Kamilari is a small and pleasant village between Timbaki and Matala with about 400 inhabitants.

Yet it is equipped with all comforts and is for example the supermarket with the butcher shop just 5 minutes walk from your bungalow.

Kamilari is located in the south of Crete, about an hour's drive from Heraklion airport.

In Kamilari are some cosy kafenions (cafés), a pizzeria and tavernas.

Because Kamilari has not yet been discovered by mass tourism, prices are very common. Enjoy a nice glass of wine at one of the local kafenions, starting from 0.80 cents.

If you want to experience the quiet, Greek life and love nature and hiking, then this little village is probably the place for you. From Kamilari you can reach the beach of Kalamaki on foot in about 20 minutes. In the vicinity of Kamilari several interesting tomb monuments have been excavated.

The beautiful sandy beach of Matala is 6km from Kamilari.

Matala was in the years 60 the domain of the hippies (Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan also liked to relax here), today you will find here a few remaining hippies who sell handmade jewellery on the beach.

The beautiful bay of Matala is protected by chalk cliffs that you can visit during the day.

Here you can also enjoy a breathtaking sunset in the evening.

The cosy village of Sivas is about 3 km from Kamilari, here you can enjoy a delicious meal in one of the many restaurants in the cosy village square, where live music is played weekly.
